the funny thing about all of this is, i feel like the sigilsound mixes are the least interesting. they may be the more traditional structure, but the content is interchangeable with mana ultra anyway. aside from the unique warp you get when combining spells that are similar in name, the mixes themselves arent that hard to understand. its just the names that are cool. if youve followed mana ultra and/or kozer, its always fun to imagine who’s doing what with what song, and sigilsound basically does the same thing.
the answer is that ive wanted to hear his combo of mana ultra and his solo stuff before he had this album to compare it against. there is never a dull moment or a dud song. even if the songs arent the types of songs you like, they do have some small distinguishing features.

you’re right, the detail in keygen church’s tracks and art is impressive. but, in my experience, there aren’t any bands more reliable and consistent than his more immediate peers. i think with intense and no place for anger on the horizon, he might even rise above them. keygen and nmw were, in some ways, the mid-tempo, mellow side of the r&b spectrum, and, while they were important as long as that was all we had, they were underappreciated as anything more. it seemed like they were destined to be in the shadows as artists like keygen and nmw ascendant, but now, keygen has the spotlight to himself again. it’s interesting, we can never look at keygen church the same now.
