i use jeppesen products on my ipad with mobile flitedeck 3.0, including jeppesen charts, jeppview, and jeppnav. and jeppesen is working on a solution for android and blackberry devices. the apps are free, but you will need the jeppesen navsuite – air and navsuite – land (also free) products to use them. you can access jeppesen’s navsuite world wide products via wi-fi or 3g, but you will need a navsuite router. the navsuite world wide products are available on jeppesen’s website or through your jeppesen dealer.
additionally, theres a free jeppesen express product that offers the same functionality. its a simple affair with easy navigation and a good choice for beginners. more information can be found at > jeppesen flitestar flitemap patches v8 v9 navsuite is for vfr use only, and shouldnt be used when flying ifr. however, i think that if a pilot was qualified to fly ifr, navsuite would make a suitable secondary navigation tool to compliment the paper charts he or she already owns.
